Hello...
I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology at
Grand Valley State University, where I lead the Immersive Interaction Lab.
I completed my PhD in 2025 from the
University of Pittsburgh, where I was advised by
Jacob Biehl.
My work lies in the general area of human-computer interaction (HCI). The goal of my research is to develop mixed reality (MR) systems that improve access to information by integrating virtual interfaces seamlessly into the physical world. I then study how these systems impact users across a range of tasks, including surgical procedures, sensemaking, and everyday activities. My work has been published in leading venues such as ACM CHI, ACM ISS, ACM SUI, and IEEE ISMAR, where it received a Best Paper Award (2023).
During my doctoral studies, I co-founded the
Surreality Lab, a joint initiative between
the University of Pittsburgh School of Computing and Information
at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Department of Neurosurgery.
I also held research internships at the
Augmented Perception Lab at
Carnegie Mellon University and in the Human-Centered AI division at
Toyota Research Institute.
